Giving Young Carers a Break
Young carers often take on caregiving roles for family members or friends, which can have a significant impact on their education, social life, and overall well-being. Recognising their unique challenges and providing assistance is vital.
Young carers enjoy a wealth of activities – theme parks, pizza night, boat trips, cooking and arts and crafts to name a few. The door to door service we provide with our own mini bus is crucial to support them with attendance.
Inclusivity and Special Educational Needs and Disability
We support and promote opportunities and groups for the inclusion of young people with SEND. Through carefully prepared programmes, we help them to make meaningful friendships, feel respected, ensure understanding of their individual needs, and help prepare them for adult life in a diverse society.
Open Access Youth Provision
We provide open access activities for children and young people. Creating safe and supportive environments, with trusted adults that can have a lasting positive impact on their development and long term futures.
This is a broad spectrum provision, providing opportunities for young people that live in some of the most rural parts of Leicestershire and also inner-city areas of high deprivation.
If you are looking for provision in your area, please visit our Member Page.
Our Detached Teams
Our detached youth work teams, are an invaluable resource. They engage with young people in their local communities, in the environment they are most comfortable in. The benefits of which, aim to address the unique needs of youth in those settings. The areas in which they work are often the most deprived.
Detached work is a solution we can utilise when a building is unavailable.
Building Connections
The “Building Connections” program is a fantastic initiative that made a positive impact on the lives of many of the young people we worked directly with. By partnering with Coca Cola Europacific Partners and UK Youth, the program aimed to break down barriers to employment for young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), Autism, and NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
The fact that over 500 young people were involved in the program over a two-year period and that additional groups expressed an interest in participating if the program runs again, shows how much this program was/is needed. The program highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for these young people to connect with employers and gain valuable skills and experience.
The program’s focus on empowering young people with SEND, Autism, and NEET backgrounds is particularly significant as these groups often face unique challenges in finding employment. By organising events and workshops as a platform for them to engage with employers and learn about job opportunities, the program is helping to bridge the gap.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Building Connections Program on its success – We are about to enter year 3…The Legacy Year!
Road Revolution
The Road Revolution is back for another year following three years of successful delivery to young people across Leicestershire. Our youth workers have delivered to alternate education providers, where some young people were at risk of TWOC’ing (taking without owner’s consent), colleges and youth groups. The programme provides them with the skills and confidence to speak up in potentially dangerous driving situations, both as a driver and as a passenger – it helps keep young people safe in and around cars, providing road hazard awareness for 13-19 year olds (25 for SEND). The innovative programme uses virtual reality technology – literally putting young people in the passenger seat of an accident and helping them to understand the consequences of risky behaviours in and around vehicles.
