Richard Brooks

Chairman

I took over as Chairman of Young Leicestershire in summer 2017, fitting this role in whilst still working full time as a Chartered Surveyor and running the family farm at Wistow. My wife Diana is a tireless fund-raiser for UK Youth (of which Young Leicestershire is a member), and I came across YL in my year of being High Sheriff for the County in 2012-13. Born in Leicestershire and now living at Wistow, I am thrilled to be part of a team that has great plans for Young Leicestershire over the next 5 years. I admire the focus on providing support to member clubs across the City and County who offer so many opportunities for our young people to develop and become model citizens of the future.

Alison Jolley

CEO

I joined Young Leicestershire in 2006 having been a youth worker for nearly 30 years. Our charity has seen many changes over the years but our members and young people have consistently remained our priority. I am proud of the inspiring projects our members provide to young people and the many youth workers and dedicated volunteers we are able to support.

Deb Such

Membership Development Officer

I joined Young Leicestershire in 2017 after working for 25 years in education. I am also a youth worker, running a group for young adults with SEND. Working and supporting those with special educational needs and disabilities is a passion of mine and one which I relish. The ethos and values that are at the very core of Young Leicestershire ensures that myself and other youth workers within the organisation, can be certain that no one is ever discriminated against or excluded from any of our groups.

I have been Trustee & Treasurer for YL since it’s incorporation on 17 Jan 2013, but my support as Treasurer extends back to when the charity/organisation was Leicestershire Clubs for Young People.

My role as Treasurer is to account for the finances and provide a sound financial governance framework to help fellow Trustees/Committee members and staff better understand and manage the Charity’s finances. In particular ensuring that all funds and assets are controlled and safeguarded for the benefit of the charity, and the young people organisations which we support.

I am a practising qualified accountant FCMA and have a range of clients some of which are also charities.

When I am not working, I enjoy a round of Golf

I am qualified youth worker who has worked with children, young people and families for over 15 years and have worked alongside Young Leicestershire for over 3 years now, where I have run Youth Provision in Leicestershire and delivered Safeguarding Training to our affiliate members. Through affiliation with Young Leicestershire I have had the pleasure of seeing the great work the organisation does with Youth Provision across Leicester and Leicestershire. This led me to join the Executive Board for the organisation and help add my skills and knowledge to Young Leicestershire and help the affiliated members we have and continue to support youth provision across the City and County. Thus, having an impact on the positive outcomes for young people in Leicester and Leicestershire.

I have lived in Leicestershire all my life, and before I trained as a Montessori teacher, I worked with children with learning difficulties. Whilst in the role of High Sheriff of the County I was able to visit one of Young Leicestershire’s centres in Melton Mowbray. I was immediately impressed by their enthusiasm in providing youth activities, support and stability to young people in a world where this is becoming extremely difficult. And the passion shown by those running these clubs with such a wide range of activities is phenomenal. I am delighted to now be part of this brilliant organisation and hope to be able to support and promote it in any way I can.
