Hospice is a local charity and every year we care for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We provide free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers.
Youth Ambassadors, young people aged between 16 and 30, will strive to connect LOROS to their communities by supporting the community engagement team. With 6,301 young people engaged within the last 2 years via projects volunteering and school events, the young people have demonstrated the skills to be an advocate for youth engagement in their education settings and wider communities. Under the supervision and guidance of the Youth Engagement Officer, the Ambassadors will support with raising awareness of LOROS services at community and educational events. They will receive training to enable them to answer general questions, as well as signposting to educational and volunteering opportunities, as appropriate. Youth Ambassadors will deliver talks and presentations to their peers and lead on events, in the absence of the Youth Engagement Officer.
The activities which will enhance their involvement within a decision-making role will include being an advocate for young volunteering through the attendance at Volunteer Voice meetings and AGM. The young people will work as a team to identify and develop activities which can be used by LOROS, to engage young people. They will be proactive in sharing opportunities to young people in the community, attend regular Youth Ambassador meetings on a bi-monthly basis and support with the development of the programme. Youth Ambassadors will liaise with the community engagement team to support with the action plan and implementing their strategy.
